YELLOWKNIFE (JUNE 19, 2009) - Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment Bob McLeod will travel to Washington D.C. June 22-25 to address US Government officials, Senators and Congressmen on the importance of Arctic Natural Gas to the North American supply.

The Minister will be accompanied by MLA Jackie Jacobson and will use the opportunity to also advance discussions with US officials on issues of concern to the people of the Northwest Territories.

Of primary focus to the Minister and MLA will be: rising energy costs, the decline in southern Canadian gas exports, the need for secure energy supplies and the important role that large gas reserves in the Polar Regions will play in North America’s energy supply mix.
