GNWT Launches New Accountability Resource
R(16)304 - Thursday, November 05, 2009Minister of Finance J. Michael Miltenberger introduced the website (http://workingtogether.gov.nt.ca) to his colleagues today.
“We recognize that the people of the Northwest Territories have a right to know what their government is doing and how it is expending public funds,” he said.
The website’s creation is a response, in part, to requests from Members of the Assembly for easily accessible up-to-date information on the initiatives undertaken by the Government.
A companion document to the new website titled: Northerners Working Together: Fulfilling our Plan provides an overview and guide of the vision goals and priorities of the 16th Assembly and the specific Government actions, projects and investments that support it.
Premier Floyd Roland says the significant work that has been initiated by the GNWT provides a foundation from which it will advance real and significant progress on some of the NWT’s biggest issues and opportunities.
“I believe that this Assembly – thanks to the vision that it holds, the work that it has done and the commitment, courage and foresight of its Members – is positioned to move forward and improve the lives of our residents, build a vibrant and sustainable Northwest Territories and contribute to a stronger Canada.”
